Emily Miklos (Class of 2025) is a dynamic individual pursuing a dual major in Finance and Marketing, with a minor in Italian at La Sierra University. She comes from a small island called Kosrae which is one of the four federal states of the Federated States of Micronesia. She is a multifaceted leader actively engaged in various aspects of campus life, positively impacting her fellow students and the university community.

As the Marketing Director for the Student Association, Emily excels in harnessing her strategic thinking and creative skills to develop impactful marketing campaigns. Emily's leadership prowess extends beyond her role in the Student Association. As a supervisor for the student cafe (Eagles Nest), she oversees the day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless service and customer satisfaction.

What truly distinguishes Emily is her genuine passion for connecting with people and making a difference in their lives. Inspired by the opportunities she has been afforded, she believes in giving back and helping other students have the same chances she was given.

Nayklae Moo is a Senior and will graduate in the spring of 2024. She is majoring in Human Resource Management and Management. She is Karen/Knyaw, an ethnic minority from Myanmar. Myanmar is currently at a civil war, and the Karen/Knyaw has been a persecuted ethnic group for over 74 years. She has always wanted to open up new visions for the future of the Karen youth. She is the first in her family to receive higher education and wanted to learn more and explore her options. She is a student assistant at the Zapara School of Business, an ENACTUS member, and the Nunez Business Incubator Club president.

As a student assistant at the Zapara School of Business, she has been able to explore many opportunities to learn about her peers and how to facilitate a great workflow. At La Sierra University’s ENACTUS, she is a part of the CultivatED project. The project has created a business-based curriculum with an emphasis on freight farms for different school programs. She has helped teach the program two times at a continuation high school in 2022. The Nunez Business Incubator is a club that helps foster students with ideas and makes them come to life. It is a research-focused club that focuses on helping students network and find tools to create their start-up businesses.

Maryamawit (Marya) Zewdu is a Political Economics and Marketing Student at the Zapara School of Business, La Sierra University. She is also an Ethiopian Youth delegate and recently participated in the MU Conference in NYC in March 2023.

With over 15 years of experience working in education, Lovelyn Razzouk has enjoyed being on the frontline, working alongside many outstanding students, staff, faculty, and community partners. She has had the privilege of mentoring students through academic and career advising, managing student work programs, teaching undergraduate courses, facilitating professional development opportunities, and community involvement.

She is ready to enter her 40s with a new sense of energy, excitement, and purpose!

What started as a fun and cute way to celebrate turning 40 – raising 40K and bringing attention and support to educational organizations that influenced me, has grown and evolved into something much bigger than I have ever imagined.

La Sierra University is where students recognize the transformative power of higher education and how nurturing students today empowers them tomorrow. 

And over the last three weeks, she’s had the privilege to work alongside five outstanding young women that answered the call for help, the call to step outside of their comfort zone, and the call to build a legacy to help students reach their potential. These five rising stars are committed to establishing a leadership scholarship program that will begin with providing up to 40K scholarships for 40 students that empower and elevate students. This scholarship program provides financial tuition stability and includes team-driven, wrap-around services that help with career readiness and achieving degree completion. This program offers an opportunity to underrepresented students that desire to create value and make a difference in their local and global community.

Megan Eisele is a fourth year student at La Sierra University working towards a B.S. in Business Marketing and a B.A. in Communications Public Relations. She enjoys working in teams and learning new strategies to complete tasks. Through her time as a Student Assistant and interning at multiple companies, she has learned various leadership and communication qualities that she feels will be beneficial in her pursuit of a career in Marketing, Public Relations and Event Coordination. Megan is also interested in the health and wellness space in addition to fashion and technology.

Moded Surangel is a Sophomore at La Sierra University pursuing a double major in Accounting and Political Economics with a minor in Marketing. She comes from the  island nation of Palau and brings a unique perspective and a deep appreciation for cultural diversity to everything she undertakes.

With a keen interest in finance and business, Moded has become an influential figure within the Accounting and Finance Society at her university. As a leader in this student organization, she has organized workshops, guest speaker events, and networking opportunities to enhance the professional development of fellow students. 

Beyond her involvement in the Accounting and Finance Society, Moded is an active member of ENACTUS, a global community of entrepreneurial-minded individuals dedicated to creating sustainable social change. Through ENACTUS, she has had the opportunity to work on projects that address pressing societal issues, leveraging her skills in marketing and strategic planning to make a positive impact in the local community and is currently leading the implementation of the e-library project in her own home country- Palau. Moded's commitment to serving others and his passion for social entrepreneurship have fueled her drive to develop innovative solutions that uplift underprivileged communities. Recognizing the transformative power of higher education, she aspires to bridge the gap between economic policies and their real-world implications, working towards a more equitable and prosperous society.

She hopes to use her skills to create opportunities and lead initiatives of economic empowerment that empower her people and aims to be a leader in ushering in an era of prosperity for her home by helping bridge gaps in education, infrastructure, and the Palauan economy.
